
The 17th National Seminar 2025 (NATSEM 2025), themed “From Plantation to Preservation: The Role of Oil Palm in Sustainable Vegetable Oil Production” was successfully held on 14–16 July 2025 at Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Johor Bahru, Johor.
Organised by The Incorporated Society of Planters and managed by ISP Management (M) Sdn Bhd, NATSEM 2025 highlighted the importance and benefits of sustainable practices in the oil palm industry.
This Seminar served as a platform for bringing together industry experts, stakeholders, researchers, and entrepreneurs involved in the oil palm sector to explore and discuss innovative strategies, emerging opportunities, and actionable approaches aimed at strengthening the profitability of oil palm cultivation and its associated industries.
This Seminar was officiated by YB Datuk Chang Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Ministry of Plantation and Commodities Malaysia. It featured a keynote speech by YBhg. Dato’ Henry Sackville Barlow, 3 lead papers and 9 papers were presented that discussed the various challenges, market trends, and technological advancements in sustainable practices in the current landscape of the oil palm industry. This Seminar was able to identify viable pathways and actionable insights that can lead to producing palm oil sustainably
The highlight of the Seminar was the panel discussion “From Plantation to Preservation: The Role of Oil Palm in Sustainable Vegetable Oil Production” which explores the industry’s future direction.
