SIBU: A total of 30 employees of oil palm companies in the central region graduated with certificates in plantation management (CPM) at the Methodist Pilley Institute here today.

The three-month intensive programme was conducted by MPI as the training provider, in collaboration with Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) Malaysia, with the support of the Sarawak Oil Palm Plantation Owners Association (SOPPOA), and sponsored by the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF).

Present to hand over the certificates was ISP Malaysia chairman, Datuk Daud Amatzin.

This investment, he pointed out, signifies a commitment to upskilling the workforce and contributing to the advancement of the plantation industry in Sarawak.

“We also acknowledge the employers who have actively encouraged and supported their employees throughout the programme. The collaborative effort between employers, employees, and training providers is vital for nurturing talent and fostering a skilled workforce within the industry.”

Looking ahead, Hii appealed to the Sarawak government to extend further financial assistance to enable the running of the CPM programme throughout Sarawak.

He said MPI is committed to working closely with the ISP Malaysia to offer further programmes such as the diploma in plantation management.
